"It's so important to me to have my daughter in Girl Scouting.  The values she learns and life-long friendships she makes are priceless.  She is able to give back to her community and help make it a better place."
-Jennifer
GSWNY Cadette Troop Leader

Girl Scouting builds Girls of Courage, Confidence and Character who make the world a better place, but that could not be done without caring adults to guide them.

Whether you choose to work directly with girls (leader, assistant leader, mentor, girl event coordinator, special interest volunteer), or support their development in a more indirect manner (fund development, communications or council staff support) your expertise and skills are needed.

More than ever before, we at Girl Scouts of Western New York understand the demands and constraints on your busy life. However, besides needing you, we don't want you to miss the satisfying opportunity to shape the life of a girl, a future leader!

There are many ways to give some of your time for the girls, they include:

Direct Service to Girls—Facilitate the delivery of the new Girl Scout Leadership Experience from a variety of volunteer positions (e.g., leaders, advisors, counselors, unit leaders, event chaperones, drivers, treasurers).

Indirect Service to Girls—Support girls "behind the scenes" as a strategic thinker, administrator, interest-, skill- or project-based volunteer (e.g., board members, school organizers, trainers, delegates).

Alumnae—Keep up your membership to reconnect with other alumnae, attend events, participate in social networking groups, stay informed about the organization, advocate for girl issues, and donate.

Parents/Guardians/Families—Join to stay informed on girl trends and youth development, attend events, connect with other parents/guardians/families, advocate for girl issues, and donate.

As a volunteer, you can choose from one or more of these "pathways". This will give you the freedom to tailor your level of involvement to fit your schedule and lifestyle. Also, you may choose either short-term or long-term assignments.

In addition, we are willing to match your expertise, skills, interests, and life experience to the needs of the members of Girl Scouts of Western New York and the availability of our volunteer opportunities. We pledge the support, instruction and guidance necessary to fulfill your role successfully.
