Q:
Why were these summer camp programs chosen to be “rested?”
A:
For the safety of our campers and volunteers, and to operate
the camp programs at full capacity, the council has made
the decision to “rest” summer camp programs
being held at Camps Pinewood, Zoar Valley and Oak Orchard.

Q:
Does this mean that some of the camps are being closed?
A:
No, “resting” means that camp programs will
not be operating during the camp season. The decision
to “rest” camp programs is an operational
decision. The Girl Scouts of Western New York Board of
Directors is the only one who can make the decision to
close camp properties. The Board has not made any decisions
to close camp sites.

Q:
Will these summer camp programs run in 2010?
A:
At the end of each camp season, we evaluate staff, campers
and parents to assess the needs for the upcoming camp
season. At this time, our focus is in providing age-appropriate
programs that align with the council’s mission.
All programs for the 2010 camp season will be reviewed
at a later date.
