Welcome to World Thinking Day 2014. With 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from 145 countries across the world, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts is the largest voluntary Movement dedicated to girls and young women in the world. This year, World Thinking Day is February 22, 2014.
This year’s theme is “Education opens doors for all girls and boys”. This theme was selected to address one of the UN Millennium Development Goals: Achieve universal primary education. Though access to education has improved worldwide, an estimated 250 million children of primary school age lack basic reading, writing, and numeracy skills, whether in school or not.
This World Thinking Day 2014 activity pack includes information and activities to help members learn about issues such as access to quality education, lifelong learning, and how we learn as Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
World Thinking Day is a chance for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to celebrate the international friendship they find in our Movement, to raise money to help grow and share the Movement with more girls and young women around the world, and to join together to take action on issues affecting our world.
