The first ever Rock the Falls took place on Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Goat Island located in Niagara Falls State Park, USA. Girl Scouts of WNY “Rocked Out” with over 3,000 attending from USA and Canada. This was in celebration of our 100th Anniversary. One of the world’s greatest wonders, Niagara Falls was the incredible back drop on a gorgeous, sun drenched day! The thousands of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides of all ages ecstatically joined in for an unprecedented Sing-Along of traditional and historical Girl Scout Songs. A camp-out followed at Old Fort Niagara that evening. Caitlyn Koch, contestant from XFactor and American Idol took the stage with the Jamie Moses Band. Other acts included Buffalo’s award winning, Ladies First Jazz band with the Girl Scout Jazz Combo, plus The famous Girl Scouts of Nassau County Chorus and the opening act was the beloved “Silly Song Lady,” Betty Earhardt! On Sunday, 100 Girl Scouts and Girl Guides spanned the rainbow bridge to commemorate this momentous occasion bridging the international friendship and sisterhood that has been shared for over 100-years. It was a historic moment. Our Mistress of Ceremony was Miss New York 1990, Maryalice Demler, the award winning television journalist and news anchor for WGRZ/Channel 2 on Your Side, Buffalo and a Girl Scout.
