For New Troop Volunteers

Step 1: Once you have submitted your application, references and background check, complete GSUSA’s Girl Scouting 101.  This course will give you an orientation to the organization, information on being an effective leader, and information on programming for your girls’ grade level.  You can find the course on GSUSA’s website here: http://training.girlscouts.org/ You will be prompted to enter your contact information. Be sure to choose our council, Western New York, so that we will be notified when you’ve completed the course.

Step 2: Attend Troop Essentials- this orientation gives you an overview of Girl Scouts of Western New York policies and procedures and everything you need to know to get your troop up and running.  Contact your Membership Manager for the facilitator for your area.

Step 3: Within one month of your first meeting, complete GSWNY online Grade Level training. This training provides grade-level specific information on troop management, program options, planning troop meetings, and developing girl leadership. There is a grade level training for each Girl Scout level. (Senior and Ambassador levels are combined into Older Girl training.) The online training is a self-paced course. Access Grade Level Training by going to eBiz, selecting "Activities" in the top toolbar, and then selecting "Learning and Training".
