Camping is a
great way for girls to explore leadership, build skills, and develop
a deep appreciation for nature. Whether for a day, a week, or
longer, Girl Scout camp gives girls an opportunity to grow, explore,
and have fun under the guidance of caring, trained adults.
Research shows summer camp can help children retain a significant amount of what they learn during the school year. At Girl Scout camp, girls make new friends, feel good about themselves, and access experiences they would not normally be offered, such as sailing, creative arts, horseback riding, drama, and ropes courses team activities.
Girl Scout camp is a safe environment to have fun with friends, play outdoors, and explore new activities. Girls get to be decision-makers with leadership opportunities in every program. It's more than activities; it's a caring community.

Summer Camp Is a Girl Scout Tradition
For thousands, the camp experience has been a long-standing family tradition. At camp, girls build new skills, get a sense of community and develop a deep appreciation for nature. Whether for a day, week or longer, Girl Scout camp gives girls an opportunity to grow, explore, and have fun—always under the guidance of caring, trained adults. Girl Scouts of Western New York summer camps are ACA (American Camp Association) accredited. Ready for camp? Take our Quiz!
More detailed information on our camps and what to expect can be found on the Camp FAQ page.
Our summer staff are recruited from around the world. They are college students, mothers, teachers and others who enjoy working with children. They all complete an application and interview, provide references, and undergo a formal background check. All staff complete an intensive pre-camp training orientation before campers arrive. There are 2 counselors for every 12 girls at day camp and 2 counselors for every 10 girls at resident camp.
Financial Assistance (Camperships)
Financial aid is available for all girls who are members of GSWNY. You can complete the application when you register for camp here or visit one of our service centers for a paper form. Please submit as soon as possible for consideration and feel free to contact us for assistance with completing the form.
Campers that Require Reasonable Accommodations:
The Girl Scouts of Western New York wants to provide a positive summer camp experience to every girl. If your child requires special accommodations (transportation, diet, food restrictions, extra supervision, other, etc.) while at camp, please contact the Director of Outdoor Program PRIOR to REGISTERING YOUR CHILD for camp at 1-888-837-6410 or email@example.com to discuss the possible accommodations that could safely and reasonably be made for your child.
Bus transportation is available to Camp for an additional fee of $50 per girl per week. More information and schedules for each location can be found on the Camp FAQ page or corresponding camp pages and are listed by time, place and bus stop. Please note that any bus stop stated in this brochure may be cancelled due to an insufficient number of boarding passengers. In this instance, the bus fee will be refunded. Bus refunds will not be given for any other reason or circumstance.
Bus transportation is provided Sunday morning/afternoon and again on Friday evening. Please indicate on the application if you will need bus service and carefully select the bus stop that will be best for your child.
We recommend that you arrive at the bus stop at least 10-15 minutes early. The times printed on the website are estimated and may be subject to delay (10-30 minutes) and or change depending weather and traffic conditions. Parents, if you are not at the bus stop when the bus arrives, your daughter will remain on the bus until it reaches the bus terminal. You will then have to pick her up at the bus terminal.
