Seasonal Employment

For general 2021 Summer Camp info, please see this page

Are you looking for a fun summer job? Are you looking to do an internship for college credit, or majoring in education or camping administration, or do you just love working with children in an outdoor setting?

Be part of a fantastic summer experience and make a difference in a child’s life and become a summer camp counselor. You will help girls ages 5 – 17 develop their full potential; learn to work with, relate to, and respect others; and make decisions while contributing to the camp community. In addition girls and staff alike will make and rekindle friendships, laugh, smile and experience many new and different things.

Working at Girl Scouts of Western New York

At Girl Scouts of Western New York, we're all about leadership development for girls.

Our core values - respect, integrity, customer service, diversity, empathy and courage - provide the foundation for everything we do.  Guided by these values, Girl Scouts of Western New York provides a distinctive environment that gives girls the tools to develop into women of courage, confidence and character.  Their impact is felt not only within our local communities, but across the country and around the world.

It takes a team of extraordinary people to produce an extraordinary council. From directors to membership managers to camp counselors and administrative staff, Girl Scouts of Western New York has a place for talented individuals to contribute to our mission.  We have many opportunities for the right people in our camps and service centers.

COVID-19 and Summer Camp

Given the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic health crisis, GSWNY has yet to determine whether or not the 2021 Summer Camp program will be in person or virtual. We will continue to monitor and communicate any and all information as it becomes available. The Council has the right to make changes as it deems necessary to the terms as outlined here in and in accordance with federal, state and local laws.

Camp Employment Expectations

Camp is a commitment of 6/7 weeks, 1 week of staff training and 5/6 weeks of camp. Although we would like all staff to be able to commit to the entire summer, we realize that sometimes situations arise that prevent this. If this is the case for you, please do not let this deter you from applying. We will work with you on the number of weeks that you can commit to working at camp.

Camp dates for day camp are Saturday, June 26 to July 2 (staff week) and July 5 through August 13, 2021, summer camp sessions.

Camp dates for resident camp are Saturday, June 26 to Friday, July 2 (staff week) and July 4 to August 8, 2021, summer camp sessions.

Volunteer Positions

Become an Outdoor Champion!

GSWNY seeks Outdoor Champion Volunteers who are willing to help us enhance council programming and training offerings to support our girls in finding their own outdoor adventure. Outdoor Champions can take on many forms – education and outreach to spread positive outdoor messaging, serving as an “outdoor mentor” for troops and even leading and guiding outdoor programs. Enthusiastic and positive volunteers can take on any of these roles, regardless of your current level of experience. We need you to join us on this project and help more girls get outside!

Please take this brief survey to share your interests. Once submitted, the Outdoor Department will contact you to arrange a placement that best fits your interests. If you have any questions, please contact Janet DePetrillo, Director of Camp Administration.
