Two Weeks – Girls must be 12 years or older in order to participate in this program.
Experience the underwater world through a mask, snorkel, and breathing device. Professional Scuba instructors from Dip N’ Dive will take you through every step necessary for you to obtain your Jr. Open Water Diver or your Open Water Diver scuba certification. Spend your first week at camp training in our Seven Hills pool covering the first phase of your certification. Spend your second week completing the second phase – open water dive, (with overnight) conducted at the Windmill Quarry, located in Fort Erie, Canada. When you surface, don’t forget to leave time for all of the other great activities at Seven Hills.
Please note that girls will go home during this two week program.
The open water dive will take place over a two day time period at Windmill Quarry. It is at this time that girls will stay overnight.
Participants must meet the basic swim requirements and health requirements set by Dip N’ Dive. If they do not, they will be placed in an alternate program at camp. (Basic swim consists of 200-yard swim, treading water for 10 minutes and floating for 10 minutes.)
Upon successful completion of the training, girls 12-14 years of age will receive Scuba School International Certification as a Junior Open Water diver and girls 14 and older will receive Scuba School International Certification in Open Water Diver.
The Junior Open Water Diver Certification allows you to dive with a certified diver only. Open Water Diver may dive independently.
Participants who complete the entire course will receive their open water scuba certification.
All participants are required to attend an in person scuba orientation meeting on June 24, 2025 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Girl Scout Service Center. This meeting is the first required class of the program.
Girls must have their original birth certificate or current passport in order to cross the border to Fort Erie, Canada. Parents will also be required to sign a release letter allowing Camp Seven Hills to transport their child into Canada.
