New Troop Leadership Volunteers (Troop Co-Leaders)
Welcome to the Girl Scouts of Western New York Volunteer Basic Training Series!
These videos are available for all adults and volunteers to access and use. More videos will become available as topics are developed.
To be appointed to the Troop Co-Leader role, a volunteer must:
- select the Troop Co-Leader role
- be a registered member of Girl Scouts of the USA
- complete the volunteer screening process for Girl Scouts of Western New York
- view the following three videos
- complete and submit the knowledge check that follows the videos
Two very important documents that you will refer to often are located here as well: Volunteer Essentials and Safety Activity Checkpoints. Many answers to your questions can be found in these documents, so you’ll want to become very familiar with both of these.
Within 30 days of approval, complete GSWNY Grade Level training. These trainings provides grade-level specific information on troop management, program options, planning troop meetings and developing girl leadership. There is a grade level training for each Girl Scout level. (Senior and Ambassador levels are combined into Older Girl training.) Grade level training is found in the Grade Level Training tab on GSWNY’s training page.
