As many of you are aware, we have included the Sage Tuition Rewards program as an incentive as part of Early Renewal. We were always pleased to offer Sage, which offered points as part of a tuition/scholarship program, as a unique perk to our members. Our partnership with Sage had been provided at no cost to GSWNY.
Unfortunately, Sage announced to us earlier this year that their program would now cost the council $12,000 annually. As a result, we spent time doing a deep dive into member engagement with the program, particularly with those who participate in Early Renewal.
- While some members are very engaged with the program and see it as a great benefit, many more are not actively engaged and/or have no interest in the program.
- Less than half of our girl members who qualify have active Sage accounts to receive their earned points – despite concentrated efforts to promote and educate on the program.
- Despite extensive outreach, there are very few members who have successfully used Sage points in all the years we have been connected with this program. More often we hear from members who are unable to use the points because they conflict with other scholarship offers (in general, they cannot be layered) or that the participating institutions are too limited (for example, no public institutions).
As a result, we have made the difficult decision to end our partnership with Sage, and will no longer be offering Sage Tuition Rewards as part of Early Renewal, beginning with the MY2025 membership year (renewal in spring 2024). An important note is that members still own their previously accrued points – and will continue to own them, even if they leave Girl Scouts.
Please know that while we likely cannot replace Sage with a similar program, we are actively seeking new incentives to include as part of our Early Renewal campaign and look forward to sharing them with you in the spring.
